I  live in Crescent City, California, a small coastal community located 20 miles from the Oregon border. Here we are surrounded with the ancient redwood forest, beautiful mountains and endless coastline. This area is referred to as "The Wild Rivers Coast" and there are three spectacular rivers located near Crescent City. Scenic Highway 199 runs along the Smith River,  the Klamath River is located 30 miles south in Klamath, CA, and the Chetco River is located just north of us in Brookings, OR. The beaches are beautiful and calming. One can spend hours strolling, rock hunting, and meditating to the beautiful sounds of the ocean.
If you come alone or with friends and family, I am sure you will find relaxing and memorable ways to spend your days as you visit during the workshop weekend.

I suggest if coming from out of town you consider staying at the Crescent Beach Motel . This is an older motel, but it is clean and the only motel located directly on the beach. Make sure you request a beach side room and your door will open right onto the beach. Crescent City offers many choices in motels and rates. See the link at the bottom of the page for more detailed information about Crescent City and the local area.

For those flying into the area, United Airlines is the only airline currently servicing the small Crescent City Airport (airport code CEC). You may find it more affordable to fly into Medford Oregon (airport code MFR), but you will then need a rental car to drive the two hour trip from Hwy. I-5 to Hwy.199 to Hwy. 101. It is a scenic drive through the beautiful National Forest and Smith River Recreation Area. If you have the time it is well worth the daytime drive.

As a driving reference, from the south, it is a beautiful 6 hour drive from San Francisco on Hwy. 101. From the north, an amazing 8 hour coastal drive from Portland, Oregon and from the east, Hwy I- 5 connects with Hwy.199 in Grants Pass, Oregon.
